MY "Justin Story" - the story that started it all...
I have been a longtime reader of GUIDEPOSTS, so when they decided to publish my "Justin Story" December 5, 2007 I was over the moon!
"Justin's Miracle" was published on Faithvine.com.
In the early 1990s I started a desktop publishing service. It consisted mostly of writing and creating colorful fliers, newsletters, church bulletins, business cards, and resumes for the local area I lived in.
By some miracle, I landed a job with United Advertising Publications during my divorce. As soon as they received my faxed resume, the district manager called me in for an interview. He hired me on the spot. I was told that he'd received over 300 resumes for that position. UAP was the parent company of Harmon Homes.
I was with Harmon Homes for 4.5 years. I was laid off a week after 9/11 due to the uncertainty of everything.

My position was Scriptwriter. I was in charge of several animators for our projects. I loved working with every one of them.
Our producer had us keep track of certain projects with these sign-off sheets. This paper trail was vital in areas of revisions, updates, servers and live projects.
We were all holding our breath the day we got the Disney account because another firm was also up for it. We were all on cloud 9 to have landed Disney.
Not long after I started working at this firm, the producer assigned me with a script-writing project for The Car Care Channel. It involved me writing dialogue for two actors. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of writing about CARS, so I approached my boss to ask him why he chose me? He said it was because he wanted me to expand my written horizons. Apparently, I was good at it, so I ended up writing several of these.
I was later grateful he did that because once we landed the Disney/B.V.H.E. account, I was assigned head scriptwriter for them.
Back in 2008, there was an open call for moms to write in to ABC Studios about stories to do with their kids. This was going to be for a new show called "In-the-Motherhood". It was based around the popular webisodes online. I decided to send in 3 stories about my son, Justin when he was younger. Not the horrific car accident story, but 3 funny stories. That boy kept me busy!
ABC STUDIOS bought one. When they contacted me I could barely believe it. I was still working at the multi-media firm, but I was always searching for freelance opportunities.
